Let It Snow

It’s winter.. well, almost. Here, snow comes in autumn so, although it’s not yet officially winter, we already have snow once in a while. Not that plenty though but ample enough to make the ground look white.

One of the challenges with cold weather is getting around places. This is when owning an RV would be really great, having everything you need for winter right on your automobile. You just need to make sure you have enough batteries and gasoline. You also need to get yourself a good rv insurance because getting an RV fixed without it can really be expensive.

Well, snow will be up again soon. Need to gear up!

Autumn is Coming

Summer is almost over. Well, should be almost over. The sun is still way up throughout the day. However, the wind is starting to blow its chill. Just today, the atmospheric temperature is 20 degrees Celsius but the weather feels like 9 degrees mainly because of the wind.

Sooner than later, people will soon need to prepare for winter. Winter is really really cold where we live and it takes a lot to prepare for it.

Some will make sure heaters are working fine and readily available when needed. For car owners, they usually prepare snow salt handy, ice scrapers for the windshield, snow chains for the tires and many others.

Well, it is always better to be over prepared than not be prepared at all for whatever comes. Winter can be very dangerous and even deadly, especially for long-trip road travelers.

Summer Camping

I always like going camping. I grew up in a church where we always have summer camps and youth activities, giving us the chance to go outdoors.

Now that I moved here with my wife, I also want to do the same. Maybe once we have a car of our own, we can drive to one of the camping sites about a few hours away from the city. But before I do that I need to gear up. We have been looking around for a good set of gears – from tents and sleeping bags to cooking wears and utensils. We may get one of those Sierra Designs Sleeping Bags some time.

The last camping I had was a few months back. We went to this mountain a few hours from the city where I used to work. I was with my office mate and some of his camping friends. The mountain was not that difficult to climb but the falls was really nice. The highlight of that trip was a rappelling right beside the falls. It was a great time.

Railway Design

I never rode a train until I was about thirteen years old when we went to my country’s capital for some competition. We never had a railway in our hometown and somehow, riding it was a great experience. Although I know the city mayor has been planning to start a railway project, I’m just not that sure if it will push through. There were biddings already done but I am not sure if the project was awarded to the Singaporean or Japanese contractor.

Anyway, when I arrived here, it was a bit of a surprise how they designed their railways here. I guess similar to many European countries, their railroads are made part of the main road where vehicles pass by. That means for a lot of times, the rail way is open to the public which makes tripping over on the side very dangerous.

I remember one time, back when I did not arrive yet, my wife told me about the boy who tripped over the train right about the time it passed by. Everyone was shocked and the boy was shred to pieces. Horrible. Imagine the pain the parents went through because of that. Of course, there might be other incidents too that may of may not prompt the victim to hire a FELA Railroad Injury and Train Accident Lawyer. But the point is – the design of the railway plays a very big part on how accidents are avoided.

Perth, Australia

My sister from Perth is currently visiting the family back at home. Well, obviously I’m not there at the moment since I’m writing about them from another person’s point of view.

My sister went to Australia back in 1997 when she married an Aussie (that’s what Australians call themselves).  Now, she has two kids who also went with her to our family for a summer vacation.

My wife and I have been discussing the possibility of visiting them at Perth. Aside from my sister, my wife’s cousin also recently moved to Perth with her family. She was a nurse and I think she went there first as a student on a medical assistant school in Perth. Then, when she landed on a job as a full-time nurse, she brought her husband and two kids to Perth to start a new life there.

I think Perth is really a beautiful city. Hope to get to see it someday.

Go Out and See the World

if there’s one thing I’d like to do for a long long time in the future, it’s to travel. So far, I got to see Singapore. What I really hope to try are European tours. I’d like to see Paris or Rome or Greece. Of course I’d also like to see culture-rich countries like China and India. If I get to have Americas tour like a Latin America or North America (like a Orlando vacations perhaps), that wouldn’t be bad as well.

For me, travelling lets you see the world in new eyes. It makes you look into your own realities and opens your eyes to sights and sounds that you’ve never seen before :)
